A resident of Vologda earned more than 100 thousand rubles on Hacking Email Accounts

The criminal selected passwords to mail accounts, and then sold the data on the Internet.

Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Vologda region have calculated a young man who steals logins and passwords from user accounts in mail services, and also copied information from vulnerable databases. The suspect is charged under art. Part 2, Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of malicious computer programs).

According to the investigation, a 24-year-old man was engaged in cybercrime activities during 2016-2017. With the help of a malicious program designed to steal information and resist security solutions, he selected passwords to users’ mail accounts, and then sold data on the Internet. Thus, the attacker managed to earn more than 100 thousand rubles.

The criminal case was sent to the court. A young man faces up to five years in prison.
